One Mic, the Whole Band
Bill Monroe's Blue Grass Boys
Early bluegrass bands like Bill Monroe's played around a single microphone and mixed themselves, stepping in for a solo and back out after. The band balanced itself, no faders needed.
Still heard: Bands still work one mic on stage, and it still teaches players to mix with their feet.
