Chess Records
Chicago, Leonard and Phil Chess
At 2120 South Michigan Avenue, Chess recorded Muddy Waters, Howlin' Wolf, Chuck Berry and Etta James, with Willie Dixon writing and playing bass. Electric Chicago blues was recorded loud and raw.
Still heard: Amped-up blues and early rock and roll tone came out of that room.
