DJ Screw
Houston, chopped and screwed
Screw slowed whole tapes down, dropping pitch and tempo, and chopped and repeated phrases. His screw tapes sold hand to hand across Houston.
Still heard: Slowed and reverbed edits, and phonk's woozy feel, come from him.
