"Oh Happy Day" in a Church
The Edwin Hawkins Singers
Recorded on a simple two-track machine in a church in Berkeley, California, as a fundraiser album, "Oh Happy Day" was picked up by radio and became a worldwide hit.
Still heard: Choirs captured live in a room still beat stacked overdubs.
