Frankie Knuckles
The Godfather of House
At Chicago's Warehouse club, Knuckles re-edited disco records on reel-to-reel tape and laid drum machines under them. The club's name became the name of the music: house.
Still heard: The house edit, extended intros and four-on-the-floor.
