The TB-303 and Acid
Phuture, Chicago
Roland's TB-303 was meant to play bass lines for guitarists and flopped. DJ Pierre and Phuture twisted its filter and resonance knobs live, and "Acid Tracks" invented acid house from a failed product.
Still heard: That squelch is still a whole subgenre, and a filter-sweep move everywhere.
