Sidechain Pumping
French house and Eric Prydz's "Call on Me"
Key a compressor on the pads or bass to the kick, and they duck every time it hits, so the whole track breathes. French house and big hits like Eric Prydz's "Call on Me" (2004) made it the sound of a decade.
Still heard: Sidechain is in almost every EDM, house and pop mix.
