Frankie Crocker
WBLS, New York
Crocker made WBLS a powerhouse by mixing soul, disco, jazz and pop, helping define the "urban contemporary" format. He famously rode a white horse into Studio 54.
Still heard: Format radio for R&B, and a DJ who makes hits, not just plays them.
