DJ Kool Herc
Bronx DJ, the merry-go-round
At a 1973 party at 1520 Sedgwick Avenue, Herc used two copies of a record to loop the drum break, the part dancers waited for. He called it the merry-go-round.
Still heard: The break loop is where hip-hop production began.
