Sun Studio and Sam Phillips
Memphis, 706 Union Avenue
Sam Phillips fed his voice back through a second tape machine a split second late, the slapback echo that's all over Elvis Presley's "That's All Right" (1954). Howlin' Wolf and Johnny Cash cut sides there too.
Still heard: Slapback delay is a preset in every delay plugin.
