The Dem Bow Riddim
Steely & Clevie and Shabba Ranks
Jamaican duo Steely & Clevie built the riddim behind Shabba Ranks' "Dem Bow" (1990). Its boom-ch-boom-chick pattern crossed to Puerto Rico and Panama and became the backbone of reggaeton.
Still heard: Nearly every reggaeton beat still rides that pattern.
